Itinerary for South India trip
Day 01: Arrive in Chennai
On arrival at Chennai Airport you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Chennai for check-in.

Day 02: Chennai sight seeing tour
Today go on a tour & sightseeing in Chennai city along with a travel guide; places to visit in Chennai are: Fort St. George, St. Mary’s church, Museum, Kapaleeshwar temple and Kalakshetra Dance School (a great place to visit for those who love Indian Classical Music & Dance)
Day 03: Drive from Chennai to Mahabalipuram/Mamallapuram (Distance 60kms & 2hrs journey)
After breakfast drive from Chennai to Mahabalipuram, an ancient town on the outskirts of Chennai that is renowned for its rock-cut architectural beauty of Dravidian style. Enroute visit the DakshinaChitra Cultural Centre, an established village that gives you insights into art, craft & lifestyle of South India
World Heritage tourist attractions & places to visit/see in Mahabalipuram are: Shore Temple (one of the oldest temples in South India built in the 7th century); Pancha Pandava Rathas (or Five Chariots); Arjuna’s Penance; Caves and Mandapams.

Day 04: Tour to Kanchipuram (Distance 70kms & 2hrs. journey time)
Day free to relax at the beach in Mahabalipuram or Go on an optional day’s excursion to Kanchipuram - also known as the ‘Silk City’. Tourist attractions to visit/see in Kanchipuram sightseeing: Ekambareshvara Temple (One of the 5 element places (also called ‘Pancha bootham sthallas’) of lord Siva. This one represents element - Earth), Kailasanatha Temple(an 8th century sandstone temple with beautiful stone carvings, that has an interesting history too) and Kamakshi Amman Temple(a colorful and popular temple of this town, ornate with pink and blue gopuras). Evening return to your hotel in Mahabalipuram
Day 05: Drive from Mahabalipuram to Pondicherry (Distance 100kms & 2.5hrs. journey)
After breakfast, drive to Pondicherry and check-in to your hotel on arrival.
Pondicherry is a coastal town on India’s Coromandel Coast that has a non-Indian flavor with its mix of French & Tamil culture with the laid-back feel of a college town.

Day 06: Sightseeing tour in Pondicherry
Today go for sightseeing in Pondicherry. Tourism & tourist places to visit/see in Pondicherry are: Sri Aurobindo ashram and a tour of the UNESCO endorsed ‘utopian society’ at Auroville town. Evening relax by the beach.
Day 07: Drive from Pondicherry to Kumbakonam (Distance 150kms & 4hrs. journey)
After check-out from hotel, drive from Pondicherry to Kumbakonam. En-route visits to Chidambaram Nataraja Temple (where you’ll see the iconic statue of ‘dancing Shiva’) and the UNESCO Heritage sites of Gangaikonda Cholapuram and Darasuram are the tourist places to visit near or on tour to Kumbakonam. On arrival, check-in to your hotel in Kumbakonam.

Day 08: Kumbakonam tour
Known as the Temple town in Tamil Nadu, because of the large no. of temples within its municipal limits; during the day visit some of these temples to experience the culture & magnificent architecture of these temple structures and also make a visit to a bronze statue making & pottery centre in Swamimalai village where you’ll be enamored to see how the bronze sculptures are molded and assembled following the patterns of the Chola dynasty. Day 09: Drive from Kumbakonam to Karaikudi via Tanjore (Distance 160kms & 5hrs. journey)
Drive from Kumbakonam to Karaikudi this morning. Enroute visit Thanjavur tourism site: The Bragadeeshwara Temple (also called the Big Temple). On arrival at Karaikudi, check-in to your hotel.
Karaikudi, the largest town in the Chettinad region and a dwelling place of the Chettiar community, has predominantly flourished with the regions trade & commerce from centuries. This place has been famous for its houses & historical buildings built by old trade merchants of the region.
You may also visit the Chettinad Museum, a heritage home that reflects the Chettinadu standard of living

Day 11: Madurai sightseeing
Today go on a tour of Madurai city accompanied with a local tourist guide; places to visit in Madurai are: Meenakshi Amman Temple (a 7th century temple), Gandhi Museum and also the Thiruparankundram Temple - one among the six abodes (Arupadai Veedu, meaning Six Battle Camps) of Lord Muruga. A stone’s throw away from the Thiruparankundram temple is Kaithirinagar meaning 'weavers colony' a place that has been home to weavers from the Saurashtra community who settled in Madurai in the 14th and 15th centuries.
Day 12: Depart to Chennai
